In 2022, the broadcaster sued the former parliamentarian for moral damages. After she stated, in an interview, that the radio was an ally of former president Jair Bolsonaro. According to Jovem Pan’s defense, Joice’s speech was false and aggressive. For them, the then candidate intended to “create scandals to promote herself in her public life”.
The São Paulo Court denied the indemnity of R$ 100 thousand requested by the broadcaster. Judge Juliana Koga Guimarães rejected the argument, claiming that Joice did not exceed the limit of freedom of expression, nor did it clash with the “political conflict in which those involved were involved”, defined the sentence. According to the court decision, the radio will have to bear with the former deputy’s legal fees. The broadcaster can appeal the decision.
