The Carbon Credit Law continues to raise questions mainly about the way the control will be carried out and the reliability or otherwise of the certifiers. Representative Johana Ortega (PPS) was left with doubts that the government did not explain in detail about how tons of carbon are measured.

On ABC TV he also explained that his uncertainty was in which international certifying agencies will be used to carry out the measurements, since the service is not available in Paraguay.

“I am in favor of regulating it. With more time and modifications, we will be able to find ourselves unanimously with the proposed law,” she said. He added that there would not be much impact on the workforce.

He regretted that the series of projects does not give them the time to discuss in depth.

Opinions are favorable, Vallejo said.

Roció Vallejo (PPQ) was also on ABC TV and confirmed that there are already favorable opinions for the project. “Yesterday the Minister of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (Mades) was at the board of directors, where we asked several questions,” she recalled.

He commented that today there was a public hearing with organizations and agricultural businessmen. He recommended requesting 15 more days to analyze some points. “Certification companies generate doubts. How is the ethical part of who controls who? We are not unaware that it is a voluntary action and an agreement between parties,” she highlighted.

What draws Vallejo’s attention is that they want to leave several clarifications for the regulations. “It cannot be that everything is left at that moment, when the project must be reviewed. We have to be responsible because the same thing happens with several laws,” he alleged.

He said that this parliamentary intention is in item 1 of the agenda for tomorrow’s session.
