Unmanned aerial vehicles of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) attacked Russian facilities near the city of Belgorod in the early hours of this Wednesday, destroying another of its S-400 Triumph air defense systems, valued at 1.2 billion dollars.

According to the SBU source to which several Ukrainian news agencies have had access, this is the second S-400 Triumph hit by Ukrainian forces in just two twenty days. The first of them was hit on September 14 in the city of Yevpatoria, on the Crimean peninsula.

In several videos published on Russian social networks, around twenty explosions can be heard at these facilities and at their radar station. “After these ‘triumphant applauses’, the SBU advises the Russians to think of a new name for this complex,” this source ironically said, referring to the name of this air defense model.

It is one of the most sophisticated and expensive on the market, whose four missiles are capable of neutralizing targets located 400 kilometers away and at any latitude less than 30 kilometers.

The most advanced Russian fighter falls

For their part, the United Kingdom Intelligence services indicated this Wednesday that Russian air defense systems “most likely” shot down one of their own planes last week around the city of Tokmak, located in the province of Zaporizhia, about 20 kilometers from the front line in Ukraine.

Thus, they have indicated that the incident took place on September 28, when a Su-35S fighter crashed, which they have described as “one of the most advanced combat aircraft” that Moscow has, which has lost nearly 90 aircraft. since the beginning of the invasion.

“The location is relevant because Tokmak is a highly fortified town that often hosts the Russian command base that heads one of the most disputed sectors on the front line,” they explained, according to a statement published by the British Ministry of Defense. through his account on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.

In this sense, they have stressed that “this headquarters would normally be protected with short and medium range defense systems.” “They almost certainly remain with a very high reaction capacity, since Ukraine continues to carry out deep and effective attacks against these locations,” they concluded.
