As our paper reported a few days ago, contrary to point 20 of the usage contract, Hódmezővásárhely representatives did not receive annual information either in writing or verbally from the Kalyi Jag Association until August 31 regarding the school building at Nyár utca 56, which was given free use for 15+5 years . They didn’t even start teaching in the building.

They could only listen to it before the General Assembly

Gusztáv Varga, the president of the Kalyi Jag Association, appeared unexpectedly in front of Wednesday’s extraordinary general meeting in Hódmezővásárhely, but the general meeting could not put the matter of the school on the agenda because no proposal had been prepared in this regard.

As this is an extraordinary general assembly, we cannot give him the floor. You can say what you want before the general meeting, considering that if you have already traveled from Budapest to us for this, then we have the opportunity to listen to you.

Mayor Péter Márki-Zay told the representatives before the session began.

They didn’t get the permits

– Thank you for giving us the building for free use for 15+5 years

– said association president Gusztáv Varga at the beginning of his speech, and then talked about why, contrary to their promise, they did not start teaching in September. By the way, we were the first to report on this in Délmagyarország, and then at the September general meeting, Kornélné Galambos, the municipal representative of Fidesz and Szeretem Vásárhelyt Egyesület, also asked the city management about it.

Before the extraordinary meeting, Gusztáv Varga referred in the first round to the fact that they had not received the necessary permits. The disaster management and the ÁNTSZ were also out on the inspection when the construction works were taking place.

– They saw the building at the stage when the workers were working, it was still in a dilapidated state, it could not be used for educational purposes. We agreed with this reason

Gusztáv Varga said. He pointed out that they did not agree that the relevant government office “sent the papers to the specialized authorities to look at the property during construction”.

There is still a lot of work to be done, and a lot of money is needed

Gusztáv Varga later also spoke about the fact that the school’s renovation work is currently 70 percent complete, and they would need HUF 30 million to complete it, of which they would like to receive 60 percent from the city as a subsidy. He also asked for a “place” where they could catch up until the renovations are finished.

Mayor Péter Márki-Zay announced that the general assembly will put the requests on the agenda at a later date.
