Hello Nieto presents Soledad (life and work of my grandmother) on September 30 in the Hall Dairy Central of Cádiz and on October 7 and 8 in the Theater TNT/Atalayainside of the Seville Performing Arts Festival feSt.

Soledad (life and work of my grandmother) It is the latest production of A la Plancha Theatera company that has won the Lorca Award al Best Author of the Andalusian Theaterthe Best Actor Award in the Festival Seville scenarios or the candidacy for the Max Awardsand also has the collaboration and support of Jesus Torres (The Aedo Theater). It is a monologue where Selu Nieto, Sevillian actor, director and playwright who spent more than 10 years in the television series The Secret of Puente Viejopresents in a tragicomedy key an intimate story about his deceased grandmother, with the duality of grandmother/grandson characters to pay tribute to his beloved family member and by extension to all the grandmothers to whom we owe so much.

The idea for the work arises from my memories of my grandmother’s last life, in which she was sick with depression and hallucinations due to her medication and the death of a family member. I couldn’t be with her as long as I wanted due to work issues. It occurred to me that this show could be a good tribute and a perfect excuse to be able to meet her again.

This tribute made even more sense if possible in a place like Cádiz, a place that both my grandmother and I are in love with. In fact, I started getting into Carnival when I was a child because my grandmother was a big fan and she always had it on TV.

The piece focuses on inherited sadness, not only talking about our own but also about those left to us by family members and how we have to deal with it. And it seeks to ensure that the viewer does not feel alone because it intends for solitudes to be shared during its course. It is an emotional show and a reunion with joy, with emotions, with the memories of our childhood.

How do you endure sadness?
Are we capable of governing our mind?
Is it possible to choose our destination?
A grandson who is not having a good time. A grandmother who was a victim of depression.
A grandson who feels alone since his grandmother left. A grandmother who died alone in a hospital.
A grandson who writes a play for him and a grandmother who is resurrected in it.
A play that brings them together again in the same body for an hour.
Just one hour, to clean up the mistakes of the past.
Just one hour, to rewrite an ending together.
