In his speech delivered on this occasion, the Head of State reminded the Burundians to strengthen the education of children in the family, to revalue and safeguard Burundian culture because, “A people without culture is like a tree without roots” -he emphasized.
The Father of the Nation further indicated that work ennobles man. Everyone should eat by the sweat of their brow and he who does not work should not eat either. “Our ancestors understood so well the advantage of working in a cooperative to increase production because there is strength in unity. If Burundians aspire to development, they must take inspiration from their ancestors and work in cooperatives,” continued the Burundian Number One.
The Head of State also insisted on the fact that former Burundians knew that no one can claim to know everything or be self-sufficient. This is why they said that the “bird that has never left its tree trunk cannot know that there is millet elsewhere”. So, they would learn in other places or look for what they need there. They then returned to put what they had acquired for the benefit of their families and their country. Furthermore, Burundians must always learn and research to achieve the desired development.
To this end, His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE reminded every leader to love others, to be a good model in everything and to have well-defined specific objectives which lead the citizens for whom he is responsible to the vision of Burundi, Emerging Country in 2040 and developed in 2060.
The Head of State also insisted on rabbit breeding, an inexpensive but very profitable activity and took this opportunity to invite all Burundians to practice this breeding to have money.
The Head of State ended his speech by reiterating his call to all Burundians to always have a sense of State Secret based on respect for God, respect for authority, the Unity of Burundians, mutual assistance and love of work.
