Every follower of Jesus Christ knows that sharing the good news of the gospel is part of the Christian life. Some, however, decide to make this a life purpose, like 21-year-old player CJ Stroud, from the Quarterback Texans, a team that is part of the professional American football league in the United States.

With a difficult past, Stroud has made a point of showing what God is doing in his life, after finding in sport a way to face the traumas experienced as a result of his father’s arrest, when he was still in high school.

The athlete’s father received 38 years in prison on charges of vehicle theft, kidnapping and sexual assault. Without the patriarch, Stroud’s family experienced numerous difficulties, including housing.

A testimony

After winning a match on the 24th, the player held a press conference, where he exalted the name of Christ over his life, saying that his objective is to use football as a tool for evangelism.

“I am blessed to wake up every day, walk, talk, smell, interact with people and play football. These are all things we often take for granted on a daily basis, but I try my best to thank God,” he said.

“I truly believe in His grace and mercy. He sacrificed His life for us on the cross, man. This is something I really believe in”, continued the player, speaking to several TV stations.

Despite his young age, CJ Stroud has a firm commitment to God, showing that he is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. “This goes beyond just a football game,” said the athlete.

“If I have to use football as a means of fulfilling my purpose of spreading the Gospel and the message of Jesus Christ, then that is what I will do. I believe this is what God wants,” he concluded, second a Church Leaders.
