In 1950, Raymond Mis and Gabriel Thiennot were convicted of a murder that they always denied. Their descendants are fighting for a new trial.

It is the fight of a family which for 76 years has hoped to cleanse the honor of its name. “We won’t let go never the case”, declares Thierry Thiennot, son of Gabriel Thiennot. He wants to try to have the innocence of his father Gabriel Thiennot and his friend Raymond Mis recognized. In 1946, the two hunters were accused of murdering a game warden. Commissioner Georges Daraud, a former Petainist police officer, conducts interrogations which will mark the two men. “Kneeling on an iron ruler and completely naked, for hours on end, when we collapsed, they threw weights at us. buckets of water on the figure”, testified Gabriel Thiennot, accused of the murder of Louis Boistard.

A seventh request for review

Raymond Mis and Gabriel Thiennot end up signing confessions and are sentenced to 15 years of forced labor. Then René Coty pardons them. 26 years later, a local teacher accessed the instruction file. He claims that the commissioner is corrupt and the investigation is very incomplete. Raymond Mis and Gabriel Thiennot want to be rehabilitated, and request a review of their trial five times. But each time, the judges refuse it. Today, they are deceased, but Gabriel Thiennot’s son and widow continue to cling to the idea that their seventh request for review will be accepted.
