What for many could be a tragic ending, turned into a testimony of faith for Christian athlete Damar Hamlin. This is because the young man suffered a cardiac arrest ten months ago, making his future in American football uncertain. God, however, surprised him.

Last Sunday (1st), Damar was back on the pitch, where he played in a game for the Buffalo Bills against the Miami Dolphins team, in the United States. The athlete’s presence left many surprised by his quick recovery.

Samantha Ponder, host of “Sunday Countdown” on the ESPN channel, was moved when she narrated the moment when Damar and other players came together in a moment of prayer before the match.

“It’s easy to forget because, in the league, everything happens so quickly and we move on to the next step. But what did that man [se referindo a Damar] what your family has gone through, what the entire organization has gone through to get to this point is just incredible,” she said.

Resilience

When commenting on his return after the match, the athlete praised his ability to overcome a traumatic episode, as the experience of going through a cardiac arrest could have made Damar afraid of returning to the field.

“To still be able to do what I love at the highest level in the world is incredible,” he said, also attributing his return to divine providence, being a purpose for witnessing the glory of God, which actually happened.

“Jesus doesn’t make mistakes. I’m at God’s right moment”, recalled the player. “As much as the NFL is on my schedule, this is all God timing. So you will hear me say this. I’m trusting him and that’s my strength in all of this right now.” Watch:
