A microlight crashed this Thursday, shortly after 6 p.m., in the garden of a private individual in Vignoles (Côte-d’Or), killing one person and seriously injuring one, according to information fromInformation Dijon confirmed by France 3 Burgundy Franche-Comté.
In the images broadcast by the firefighters, we can see the completely destroyed aircraft, in a pile of sheet metal. A 58-year-old man lost his life: he was ejected from the aircraft during the collision and his body was found in a hedge, around thirty meters from the accident. A 53-year-old woman was seriously injured and transported by a Samu helicopter to Dijon University Hospital. She is in absolute emergency.
Causes of the accident still unknown
Two witnesses to the accident, visibly shocked, were also treated by firefighters. Their condition did not require hospitalization. The gendarmerie and the mayor of the town went to the scene. Thirteen firefighters were mobilized, as well as two ambulances and a road emergency vehicle. The causes of the accident are not yet known. An investigation has been opened, according to Infos Dijon.
Ultralight flying must be practiced with great rigor, strictly respecting the rules in force, while being extremely attentive to weather conditions, specialists in the sector regularly remind us. The practice still suffers from a negative image, caused by regular accidents.
