Saravanan, 50, and Geetha, 45, a couple from Perugopanapalli next to Mathur, Krishnagiri district, tragically passed away after consuming poison. The couple had two sons and a daughter, with their elder son, Ranjith Kumar, 25, working as a cloth merchant. Ranjith Kumar had been in a relationship with Deepika, 23, since childhood. Deepika, the daughter of the Palani-Murugammal couple who lived opposite Ranjith Kumar’s house, was a graduate and currently working in a private company. However, both families strongly objected to their love, leading Ranjith Kumar and Deepika to leave their houses and get married two days ago. Sadly, Ranjith Kumar’s parents were devastated by their son’s decision to marry without their consent, and they both consumed poison at home. They were rushed to the government hospital but succumbed to the poison on the way.

In a separate incident, K.C., a DMK union secretary, assaulted Soundararasu, the DMK West Union Secretary, with a sandal. Soundararasu, 49, from Kookadhapatti, Dharmapuri district, had stopped his car near Gopalapuram on the evening of the 4th. Arumugam, the branch secretary of DMK in Gopalapuram panchayat, confronted him, expressing discontent with the party. The argument escalated, and Arumugam proceeded to physically attack Soundararasu with a sandal. Bystanders intervened and diffused the situation, while A. Pallipatti police arrested Arumugam based on Soundararasu’s complaint.

Furthermore, a baby boy was reported missing from the Tiruchendur temple complex. Muthuraj and his wife Rathi had traveled from Puttalam Manavalapuram in Kanyakumari district to the Kulasekarapattinam Mutharamman Temple near Tiruchendur with their one-and-a-half-year-old son, Sri Harish, on October 28. While Rathi and Muthuraj were washing clothes in the temple premises, a woman from the temple offered to accompany them to wash their clothes. However, she disappeared with their child, stating that she was going to buy ice cream. Rathi immediately filed a complaint with the Tiruchendur temple police, who are currently investigating the CCTV footage to identify the woman.

In a separate incident of theft, a house belonging to Namasivayam, a teacher at Munneerpallam Government Higher Secondary School in Tirunelveli Thiagarajanagar, was broken into. Namasivayam’s wife, Ponnammal, had left for school, and he had gone out, leaving the house unattended. Upon returning, Namasivayam discovered that the lock had been broken, and approximately £70 worth of gold jewelry and Rs. 25,000 in cash were stolen. The crime branch police are conducting an investigation, taking into account a similar incident that occurred in the same area involving the theft of £35 worth of jewelry from the house of the District Development Officer on October 2.

In another crime, a woman named Rani was arrested for the murder of a 75-year-old woman named Lakshmi from Kollangudi, Sivagangai district. Rani had posed as someone advocating for women’s rights and stole 21 pieces of jewelry from Lakshmi.

Additionally, two students from a private coaching center in Kandoli, near Agra, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested for shooting their “tuition” teacher. Sumit Singh, the owner and teacher at the coaching center, had lodged a complaint against one of the students, who had fallen in love with a fellow student. In retaliation, the concerned student and his 18-year-old friend lured Sumit out of the training center and shot him in the leg. They recorded a video of the act, threatening to shoot Sumit a total of 40 times. The police have apprehended both students, and an investigation is underway.

Lastly, in a shocking case from Karnataka, four men were sentenced to 25 years in prison for the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl. The incident occurred during the intense period of the COVID-19 pandemic, when a curfew was in place. The victim’s mother was admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 treatment, and the victim had gone out to buy food for her mother. The ward boy, Manoj, lured the girl on a bike, claiming to buy food, and later, his friends Prajwal, Vinay, and Sandeep abducted and gang-raped her. The unconscious girl was eventually rescued by locals and admitted to the hospital. Following a complaint from the girl’s mother, all four perpetrators were arrested, and they were subsequently sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined 1.15 lakh rupees.
