DMK MP Jagatrakshagan Under Investigation for Tax Evasion: Income Tax Department Continues Raids

Chennai: The income tax department continues to conduct raids for the third consecutive day on Saturday in relation to tax evasion complaints against DMK MP S. Jagatrakshagan.

The raids were initiated based on complaints that companies owned by Jagatrakshagan, who represents the Arakkonam Lok Sabha Constituency, were involved in tax evasion. On Thursday, the Income Tax Department carried out searches at 50 locations including Jagatrakshagan’s residences, his companies, related businesses, as well as the residences of his relatives and friends.

The search operations were carried out in various places including Chennai, Kanchipuram District Walajabad Devariyambakkam, Vellore, Puducherry Willianur, and also at the residence of Kamaraj, a relative of Jagatrakshagan and Deputy Mayor of Tambaram Corporation, in Crompet, Lakshmipuram.

According to Income Tax officials, a total of 15 educational institutes and 4 star hotels have been raided in connection with this investigation. On Friday, the premises belonging to the owner of Savita Hospital were also searched.

Amidst this ongoing situation, it has been reported that the income tax department is carrying out inspections today in various locations related to Jagatrakshagan. The officials stated that details regarding the seized documents, objects, and money will only be disclosed after the completion of the investigation.
