No arrests had yet been made this Sunday morning. A young man was shot and killed on Saturday evening in Nantes in the sensitive Bellevue district, we learned this Sunday from consistent sources.
The young man, aged around 17 or 18, shot in the head, was killed around 9:00 p.m. at Place Mendès-France, in the Bellevue district, said the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) of Loire-Atlantique.
According to witnesses, he was shot dead by two men riding a scooter, the same source said. Around twenty bullet cases were found on the ground, according to another police source.
“I was able to avoid the bullets”
The victim was being identified, said the Nantes public prosecutor, Renaud Gaudeul, who could not immediately specify the type of weapon and ammunition used. The investigation was entrusted to the territorial direction of the judicial police.
From the daily Ouest-France, a witness who said he was “shocked” recounted the scene. “We were barely leaving the Carrefour City store when it started shooting. We had a party planned… I was able to avoid the bullets,” he said. The newspaper specifies that tram traffic was stopped on Saturday evening for security reasons.
