Malcolm Ohanwe is a freelancer for Bayerischer Rundfunk and Arte, among others. He has now been terminated as a freelancer by the BR after he relativized Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel in a tweet. In a tweet, he wrote: “If Palestinians’ tongues are systematically cut off, how can they defend themselves with words? If Palestinians’ right to vote is stopped, how are they supposed to defend themselves with crosses? If their movement is restricted, how are they supposed to defend themselves with demonstrations? What do people expect?”

Philipp Peyman Engel, editor-in-chief of the Jüdische Allgemeine, criticized the tweet and wrote: “I really hope that now at the latest all editors in public broadcasting will pull the ripcord and stop working with him. There would have been plenty of reasons before, but when, if not now?!”
