The investigation began after receiving a tip that a house located at 3122 SW 139th Ct. was being utilized as an illegal surgery recovery house under the name “Yeni’s House.” Diaz-Peraza registered Yeni’s House LLC with the state earlier this year. Upon executing a search warrant, law enforcement found 17 paying customers, including three who were pre-operative. It was discovered that each customer had made a $250 deposit over the phone and provided a credit card for charges ranging from $250 to $300 per night.
Arrest reports reveal that the customers admitted to receiving assistance from Diaz and Diaz-Peraza with various tasks, including bathing, dressing, eating, personal hygiene, medication management, and using the restroom. These services classify the establishment as an assisted living facility, requiring proper licensing and regulation.
Diaz-Peraza has been charged with multiple offenses, including 14 counts of running an assisted living facility without a license, hazardous waste violations, felony littering, misdemeanor nuisance to public health, and a biological waste misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $81,000, and she was released after posting bail on Friday. Diaz, on the other hand, is facing similar charges and was released on a $16,000 bond. Both individuals are expected to enter their pleas during the upcoming arraignment on November 3.
Recovery houses play a crucial role in providing post-operative care for individuals who undergo cosmetic or plastic surgery. Due to the lack of available care options at in-office surgery centers, patients often rely on these facilities for proper healing and recuperation.
