Lucknow:

As the election campaign heats up in Uttar Pradesh, the subsequent withdrawal of dissident leaders from the ruling BJP has caused a setback for the party. Swami Prasad Maurya, the party’s MLA and minister, and six other MLAs resigned following him. They all joined the Samajwadi Party today in the presence of Akhilesh Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav spoke on the occasion: –

In the Uttar Pradesh elections, only 20 per cent of the people will support the BJP, while the remaining 80 per cent will support the Samajwadi Party.

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that 80 per cent of the supporters are on one side and 20 per cent on the other. But after the arrival of Swami Prasad Maurya and key leaders in the Samajwadi Party, the BJP will lose even this 20 per cent.

Similarly, UP with 403 blocks. The BJP says it will win three-fourths of the seats in the assembly. That means they will win in just three or four constituencies.

Thus spoke Akhilesh Yadav.
