Talyata Gasimova celebrates her 90th birthday in Baku

An event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the prominent khanende, people’s artist of Azerbaijan Talat Gasimov (1933 – 2013) was held at the International Mugham Center in Baku, reports Day.Az

First, a video of the khanende’s performance was presented to the guests of the evening.

Doctor of Philology, Professor Vugar Ahmed spoke about the life path of Talyat Gasimov and his merits in the development of the musical culture of Azerbaijan.

In their speeches, Deputy of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ziyad Samedzade, People’s Artists of Azerbaijan Firuz Aliyev, Agaverdi Pashayev, Vamig Mamedaliyev, Ramiz Guliyev and others noted that Talat Gasimov was a khanende with a high performing culture, attracted the attention of listeners with his beautiful voice and unique manner of performance .

In addition to the fact that he was a great connoisseur of mugham, Talat Gasimov also deeply mastered Azerbaijani poetry.

It was noted that Talat Gasimov showed interest in music since childhood. He studied mugham from Zulfi Adigezalov and Hajibaba Huseynov. He was a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev (now the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev). His repertoire was varied; Talat Gasimov performed mugams and tesnifs with special skill. The dastgahs “Rast”, “Shur” and “Zabul-Segah” played an important role in the repertoire.

Further performances at the event included People’s Artists Alim Gasimov, Nazakyat Teymurova, Teyyub Aslanov, Gulyaz Mamedova, Vamig Mamedaliyev, Honored Artist Agil Melikov, Honored Artists Teyyar Bayramov, Ekhtiram Huseynov, soloists of the International Mugham Center Miralam Miralamov, Vafa Vezirova, Mamed Najafov, Almakhanym Ahmedli , who performed works from the repertoire of Talyat Gasimov.
