Saudi Arabia is an important actor in the new world order, as it is strategically located in the south of the coastal strip of the great Eurasian continent, which Spykman once defined as the Rimland. In addition, its oil wealth gives it the ability to influence globally. The recent visit to this State of the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping and his warm reception by King Salman contrasts with the discreet visit last summer of the American president, Joe Biden, who met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmán (MbS). Among both receptions, the Saudi decision stands out, in connivance with Russia, to reduce oil production to the displeasure of Western allies, who are struggling with an energy crisis against the background of the conflict in Ukraine.
