Chennai Minister Senthil Balaji Seeks Bail in Unlawful Money Transfer Prohibition Case

Chennai, October 10 – Minister Senthil Balaji, who was arrested in June under the Unlawful Money Transfer Prohibition Act, has filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking bail. The petition is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, October 11.

Minister Senthil Balaji had previously filed two bail petitions in the Madras Principal Sessions Court, but the case was dismissed. Following this, he approached the Madras High Court to seek relief.

In his petition, Senthil Balaji cited health issues and requested bail, stating that he has been continuously suffering from health problems and recently experienced complications from a previous operation. He emphasized the difficulties he faced in receiving adequate medical treatment while in jail.

Senior advocate N.R. Ilango requested an urgent hearing for the bail plea before Judge G. Jayachandran. Accepting the request, Judge Jayachandran has scheduled the hearing for Wednesday.

Minister Senthil Balaji’s arrest in June had raised eyebrows and garnered significant attention. The Unlawful Money Transfer Prohibition Act aims to curb illicit financial transactions and money laundering activities. The case against Balaji likely involves allegations of money transfers carried out in violation of the law.

The outcome of the High Court hearing remains uncertain, and the public awaits Wednesday’s hearing to gain further insight into Balaji’s case.
