Central Hospital Launches Project to Reduce Congestion and Develop Primary Health Care System

October 10, 2023

Bangkok – Central Hospital has implemented a new project titled “Get medicine from drugstores near you” aimed at reducing congestion in hospitals and developing a strong primary health care system. The project was officially launched today by Assoc. Prof. Tavida Kamonvej, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, at the lobby of the 100th Anniversary Memorial Building.

This initiative aligns with the mission to create a livable city for everyone in Bangkok through the implementation of Bangkok Health Zoning. The goal is to support and enhance health promotion activities in all community groups, as well as improve the primary health care system and public health networks. By increasing the efficiency of access to medical care, the project aims to make it easier for people to receive services at all levels of care.

Central Hospital’s Medical Office in Bangkok is spearheading the “Get medicine from drug stores near you” project, in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council. The main objective is to provide convenient services to patients seeking treatment through the Bangkok Health Zoning system. This involves connecting quality drug stores with public health service centers and the central hospital to ensure comprehensive health care.

The project will initially focus on patients with four diseases: diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood fat, and stable enlarged prostate conditions. Patients diagnosed with these conditions can obtain their prescribed medications at participating quality pharmacies. The treatment progress of these patients will continue to be monitored to assess the effectiveness of the project.

For patients seeking medication, several nearby drug stores in different zones are participating in the project. In the Central Bangkok Zone, pharmacies including Tanao Pharmacy Shop, Osotsala Shop, Gergex Medical Shop, Charoenkrung 16 Pharmacy Shop, Dr. Ann Pharmacy Shop, Community Pharmacy Shop, and Mahidol University are offering the service. In the North Bangkok Zone, patients can visit Saphan Song Pharmacy Shop, Pharmacy Clinic Shop, Pornpong Pharmacy Shop, Chokchai 4 Pharmacy Shop, Harmony Pharma Shop, and Olive Pharmacy Shop.

Patients can start receiving their medications from these participating drug stores starting today. For more information and inquiries, individuals can contact the UMSC Center at Central Hospital via telephone at 0 2220 8000 ext. 8090.

Central Hospital’s new project aims to alleviate congestion in hospitals while strengthening the primary health care system. By partnering with local drugstores, patients can access essential medications conveniently. This initiative marks a step forward in promoting accessible and efficient healthcare services for the residents of Bangkok.]
