Penadés insists on his innocence

Before entering the court to hear the accusations, Penadés said that his conscience was “clear” and that he was not “afraid” of being imprisoned. From the beginning, he has remained immovable in his position and claims to be innocent of all charges brought against him.

The defense lawyers of Penadés and Mauvezín requested that the hearing be suspended before it began, but this request was rejected by Judge Vargas. Prosecutor Alicia Ghione stated that this request and the arguments of the private defenders were nothing more than “sparks to confuse.”
