At the start of the summer, the French biathlon team was shaken by a case targeting its reigning world champion, Julia Simon. The latter was suspected of having made purchases of a sum estimated between 1,000 and 2,000 euros with the bank cards of her teammates, and in particular that of Justine Braisaz-Bouchet. The scandal erupts when she realizes the maneuver. She then alerted the French Federation as well as Julia Simon to resolve this problem but, as the matter dragged on, she filed a complaint during the winter.
In her version of the facts, the winner of the big crystal globe Julia Simon has always claimed to have been the victim of identity theft, obviously disputing the facts. She in turn filed a complaint last August.
Despite special conditions, Julia Simon is making her return to the French team. The first mixed and single mixed relay events are scheduled for November 25 in Östersund, Sweden.
