Access to the new container terminal at the Port of Cdiz is divided into two parts. The first of them, which is in charge of Adif, is located between the city station detour and the port enclosure fence. It is a 111-meter section that crosses Avenida de Astilleros. The second is developed in two stages. The initial phase, between the enclosing fence and the new container terminal, is the one that the Port Authority is now putting out to tender, while the next phase will go out to tender at the end of 2024.

The contract tendered corresponds to a main branch of 1.78 kilometers and a maneuver branch of 615 meters, for which there is a base budget of 9,684,775.06 euros. Of this amount, 6.73 million euros are financed by the Next Generation EU Funds Recovery and Resilience Mechanism fund.

According to the planned plans, the second period of the project will be executed in 2025. In this case, the two branches will be extended to reach 2.06 and 0.89 kilometers respectively. With this expansion, the terminal will have the capacity to receive train compositions of up to 750 meters in length. The action is included in the priority of Trans-European Network Projects in seaports.
