“The valorization of cultural heritage is a fundamental task and requires an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the knowledge of humanistic and scientific subjects. The choice of the Honorable Marta Schifone who proposed the establishment of the Stem Disciplines Week is a good one. The sciences, together technology, engineering and mathematics have an important role because they can provide innovative tools and techniques for the knowledge, conservation and use of our immense cultural deposits”. This was stated by the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, after the approval in the Chamber of the bill establishing the STEM disciplines week. The text now goes to the Senate for final approval.
“Making cultural heritage more accessible to the public is one of the main commitments made since the first days of the establishment of the current Government – added the minister – also because digital technologies can be used to create interactive and engaging visit itineraries, accessible especially to people with disabilities. Furthermore, 3D technologies, virtual reality and augmented reality can be used to create virtual reconstructions of works of art, archaeological sites and historical landscapes to be used for educational, research and tourist valorisation purposes”.
