Los Angeles Celebrates Another Billion Dollar Powerball Win
Los Angeles has yet again produced a billionaire Powerball winner, with Wednesday night’s drawing resulting in a lucky ticket holder taking home a staggering prize. This marks the third billion-dollar win for the city in the past year, cementing its reputation as a hotspot for lottery success.
The winning numbers – 22, 24, 40, 52, and 64, with a Powerball number of 10 – were sold at Midway Market & Liquor, located on 6032 Frazier Mountain Park Road in Frazier Park. This jackpot is now the second-largest in lottery history, only behind the colossal $2.04 billion won by Los Angeles man Edwin Castro back in November 2022.
The win comes after 33 consecutive drawings without a big winner, making it even sweeter for the fortunate individual. It also sets a new record in Powerball history, as it is the first time that three consecutive jackpots have reached the billion-dollar mark.
Now, the winner faces a difficult decision between taking a lump sum of nearly $756 million or opting for an annuity that will pay out over the course of nearly 30 years. Whichever choice they make, their newfound wealth is sure to bring excitement and opportunities.
It’s worth noting that two tickets matching five numbers but missing the Powerball number were also sold in the Southland area. These tickets, valued at approximately $760,000 each, were sold at MLS Mini Mart in Santa Clara and Atlantic Wine & Spirit in Monterey Park.
This latest billion-dollar win follows the birth of a billionaire in Los Angeles just a few months ago. In July, a ticket worth $1.08 billion was sold at a convenience store in downtown Los Angeles, but the winner has yet to come forward.
The chances of winning the Powerball jackpot are incredibly slim, with odds standing at 1 in 302,575,350. However, Los Angeles seems to be defying those odds with its recent streak of extraordinary wins.
