DECRYPTION – The Court of Auditors points out the abuses of certain hospital practitioners. The income from the liberal activity carried out within the establishment sometimes exceeds that of the main activity.
The patient who consults a public hospital has two options: public consultation, billed at a rate reimbursed by Social Security, but which often requires a long wait. Or private consultation, which guarantees faster access to this or that renowned doctor, billed at a higher rate. This parallel liberal activity is sometimes presented as the only way to keep the best practitioners in the public eye. If the practice is legal, it can nevertheless give rise to “abuse» et «distort competition between establishments», observes the Court of Auditors, which publishes three reports on the hospital this Thursday.
