Even at the age of 80, Mick Jagger still jumps across the stage like a young gazelle – but it’s not without effort, the rock veteran reveals. His recipe: train, train, train.

London.

Singer Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones (“Sympathy For The Devil”) is in top form vocally on the new album “Hackney Diamonds”. And on stage, the 80-year-old still shows his legendary dance style despite his age. According to Jagger, this is not something that can be done on its own, but requires iron discipline.

“I’m not sure if I move exactly the same as I used to,” he tells the German Press Agency in London and laughs. “But it doesn’t happen without effort, you have to work for it. If you want to be a dancer, you have to dance, you have to practice.”

His bandmates Keith Richards (79) and Ronnie Wood (76) also consciously stayed in shape. Guitarist Wood “constantly plays concerts with random people” to keep his hands moving. “And I have to do all kinds of different things. I have to sing, practice, dance, I have to keep fit, I have to write songs,” says Jagger. “When you’re 19 you just do it that way, but once you’re 30 you really have to train regularly.”

He works in the gym every day, said the rocker. However, he doesn’t dance every day at home. “If I know that I’m going to give concerts, then I go dancing. Then I have to go to a dance studio and do a workout, a dance training, to stay tuned.” It’s quite possible that the 80-year-old will start doing it again soon. Jagger announced in the dpa interview that he wanted to be on stage with the Rolling Stones again as soon as possible after the album was released on Friday. (dpa)
