The novels by Dominique Barbéris, Sarah Chiche and Antoine Sénanque are finalists for the Grand Prix du roman of the French Academy, the institution announced Thursday October 2. The prize is awarded on October 26, the first in a series which continues in November by the Femina, the Goncourt and the Renaudot, the Médicis, and finally the Interallié.

In A way of loving (Gallimard), Dominique Barbéris tells a love story in Cameroon at the time of French colonization. The Alchemies (Seuil) by Sarah Chiche is a fiction around the figure of the painter Francisco de Goya and a family secret. With Ash Cross (Grasset), Antoine Sénanque, doctor, signs a medieval thriller from the time of the plague epidemics of the 14th century. Dominique Barbéris and Antoine Sénanque are both still in the running to win the most prestigious French literary prize, the Goncourt.

What pannual price, created in 1914, is awarded to the author of the novel that the Academy judges to be the best of the year. Last year was the novel The Mage of the Kremlin of Giuliano Da Empoli who had been awarded.
