The additional tax deductibility of donations to charitable institutions will benefit the arts and culture sector. State Secretary Andrea Mayer (Greens) referred to this on Thursday when the review period for the amendment to the Non-Profit Act began.
The aim is to make donations to cultural associations and institutions easier to deduct from income tax than before from 2024. So anyone who donates something to a theater or an independent group can get up to 50 percent of the amount back from the tax office, depending on the marginal tax rate. She expects donations to increase significantly from 2024.
There will also be an income tax-free flat rate for volunteers, Mayer said. Choir conductors, bandmasters or knowledge brokers in the cultural and artistic areas could receive tax-free allowances from 2024.
