The United Nations received a message from Israel that its staff and more than a million residents of the northern Gaza Strip must evacuate the area within the next 24 hours.

The American media Axios reported that before midnight local time, United Nations officials in the Palestinian territory were informed by Israeli Army officials that the entire population of the north must be relocated to the south of the Strip in the next 24 hours.

This version was also confirmed by the Qatari channel Al Jazeera, which has raised fears of an “imminent” ground military operation.

Around 1.1 million people live in the north of the Strip. The order, according to Axios, includes UN staff and those sheltered in facilities such as schools, health centers and clinics.

Given the magnitude of the displacement, the UN considered it “impossible” to carry out such a movement without having devastating humanitarian consequences.

IRAN AND ‘THE AXES’

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hosein Amir Abdolahian, assured today in Beirut that “the rest of the axes” will respond to Israel if its “crimes” continue, in apparent reference to a group that includes Syria, the Lebanese Shiite movement. Hezbollah or Iraqi militias.

“Of course if the war crimes against Palestine and Gaza continue they will receive a response from the rest of the axes, and the entity and the countries that support it are responsible of these consequences,” stated the head of Iranian diplomacy in a press conference after landing in the Lebanese capital.

The so-called Axes of Resistance, a kind of informal alliance led by Iran, are made up of Syria, Hezbollah, Palestinian factions, Iraqi militias and the Houthi rebels of Yemen, among others.
