A suspicious shooting has taken place in the Navestad district in southern Norrköping.

The police were alerted at 19:31 on Friday after people in the area heard several loud bangs. According to the police, “property” is suspected to have been damaged in connection with the incident.

– I have no information that any person has been injured, says Johnny Gustavsson, press spokesperson at the police.

The police have launched a preliminary investigation into attempted murder and serious weapons offences.

The police do not yet know if the incident is connected to previous acts of violence in Norrköping during the autumn.

– We will look at it, it is of course close at hand. But that’s nothing I can comment on at the moment, says Gustavsson.

The police have cordoned off the area and forensics technicians have been alerted to the scene for further assistance, the police write on their website.

During the evening, patrols will knock on doors to get witness information.
