Nagapattinam to Sri Lanka Passenger Ship Transport Launch: Inauguration by Union Ministers and Special Fare Offer

Nagapattinam: After facing delays due to administrative issues, the passenger ship transport from Nagai Port to Sri Lanka Congestion Department is finally set to begin on the 10th, officials announced.

Earlier this morning, at 8:15, the passenger ship embarked on its journey to Sri Lanka from Nagai. Union Ministers Jaishankar and Sarbananda Sonewal marked the inauguration of the cruise through a video presentation. Prime Minister Modi also conveyed his greetings through video.

The inaugural programme saw the participation of Tamil Nadu Public Works Minister Velu, who expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture. “This passenger ship service will not only promote tourism but also strengthen ties between India and Sri Lanka,” he remarked.

In anticipation of the launch day, a one-day only fare offer has been unveiled. Passengers can avail the package for just INR 2,800, which includes taxes. This exclusive offer is valid only on the launch day.

Compared to the normal fares, this special promotion offers significant savings. For a regular journey from Nagai to the Sri Lanka Kangesan sector, the fixed price is Rs 6,500 plus 18% GST, amounting to Rs 7,670.

The ship named ‘Syria Pani’ will commence its daily departure from Nagai at 7:00 AM, reaching the Kangesan Sector in Sri Lanka by 12:00 PM. The return journey from Sri Lanka will commence at 1:30 PM, arriving back at Nagai by 5:30 PM.

The passenger ship transport service has been eagerly awaited by tourists and locals alike, as it provides a convenient and scenic travel option. With the official inauguration complete, travelers can now experience the joy of cruising between Nagai and Sri Lanka, exploring the beauty of both nations.
