235 Indians Return to India on Day 2 of ‘Operation Ajay’ from Israel

New Delhi: Today, 235 Indians arrived in the capital city of Delhi as part of the second day of ‘Operation Ajay’ from Israel. Among them, 28 are Tamils. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs, welcomed the returnees. This comes after 212 individuals were brought back from Israel yesterday.

The Indian Embassy in Israel has been actively coordinating the return of Indians through regular updates on their website. In a recent post, it was mentioned that those who had registered to go to India in the next phase have been informed via email. The embassy assured that gradually, all those who have registered will be repatriated. Notably, there are approximately 18,000 Indians residing in Israel.

The initiation of ‘Operation Ajay’ by India was a response to the escalating tensions in Israel. On the 7th of this month, Hamas militants launched a surprise attack on Israel by firing rockets and shooting from the Gaza Strip. In retaliation, Israel carried out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. The ongoing conflict has created a tense atmosphere in the region.

To facilitate the safe return of Indians from Israel, ‘Operation Ajay’ was put into action. During the first phase of this project, 212 Indians were successfully repatriated to India via a special flight. Today, a total of 235 individuals, including 2 children, returned to the country. The 28 Tamils were specifically welcomed by the representatives of Tamil Nadu upon their arrival in Delhi. They will be further transported to Chennai today. Importantly, all returnees are being brought back to India without any charges.

‘Operation Ajay’ continues to prioritize the safe return of Indian nationals from Israel amidst the ongoing conflicts in the region. This initiative serves as a crucial support system for those who wish to reunite with their families and loved ones in India.
