The small family company Ecopafiesta from Rivesaltes (Pyrénées-Orientales), specializing in reusable polypropylene cups, is necessarily on every possible ground at the moment. One foot with the Catalan Dragons rugby players in the Superleague final this Saturday in Manchester, another with the USAP fifteen players, close to Perpignan. And of course in the exciting melee of the moment: the rugby world championship, because the supporters of the French team are thirsty for a good game and also for beer, so as not to fall dry-mouthed at the best of the match in the fan- area or in the refreshment bar of their neighborhood or village in France.

“We have delivered more than a million cups to various world partners, including nearly 400,000 for French rugby clubs who organize their own sessions at the refreshment bar, at the municipal stadium, most often in small villages in France and not just in fan zones in big cities. We also serve many bars that are well known to rugby fans and which organize special evenings, notably for the highly anticipated matches of the French team, particularly in the final stages,” explains Thierry Nesson, the general manager, who operates this small SME with his son Léo.

A carafe cup that holds a liter of beer

“We have been working on the rugby world championship for a year, with the first deliveries starting in March. We felt a real mobilization almost everywhere in France. And it is even more significant in the beautiful bars in town, like in Paris at “Dernier Métro”, “Rugby” or “Prolongations”, all great specialists in the third half,” adds Thierry Nesson. To respond to the sometimes pressing desires of bar owners and consumers alike, Les Nesson, father and son, have launched an exclusive on the market: the carafe cup, with a handle that allows you to carry a liter of beer so as not to be found off guard.

“It tires beer drinkers to have to return to the counter to refill the 30 cl cup. And the bartenders love it too,” comments Thierry Nesson, who has been marketing the reusable and richly decorated cups for 22 years. “The turning point came during the Euro football tournament in Belgium and the Netherlands. When we left the stadium in Rotterdam, we walked on a sort of cloud of white disposable cups thrown on the ground. We couldn’t continue like this. And, what’s more, you can’t print or personalize this type of support! »

Disposable cups are no longer popular

The boss of Ecopafiesta is surfing the various regulations which for two years have been brandishing red cards towards non-reusable cups and disposable plastic tableware. In addition, people who participate in an event, sporting or festival, love to bring the cup home, which thus begins its second life. While waiting for the whole of France, villages and festive neighborhoods, to toast France’s next victory over South Africa, the “Nessons” have already mounted another promising horse to Manchester: maxi-cups with 11 British clubs in the Rugby League Superleague. The carafe cup, with the handle, causes a lot of saliva to flow across the Channel. And it would be very regrettable if our English supporter friends ran out of “foam” during the French tests.
