Wolfenbüttel. Tafel director Juliane Liersch is happy about the amount of over 7,000 euros – and reveals what the money was able to buy.
This is already the eighth time that the DRK Tafel has benefited Wolfenbüttel and Schladen from a substantial donation from Lidl. As the German Red Cross (DRK) reports in a press release, the discounter donates the proceeds to its “Good deed at the deposit machine” campaign always to the food banks in Germany. The whole thing is done through an application from the local food banks and is then approved by the federal center of the food banks.
Small animals make messes too
“Last time we received 10,000 euros from Lidl,” reported Juliane Liersch, head of the Wolfenbüttel Tafel, at the most recent meeting. “This money went towards purchasing a new one refrigerated vehicle.” This time Christian Müller made a commitment 7125 Euro in the Eberts Hof at Großer Zimmerhof 29. “We have already spent a large part,” said Juliane Liersch with a laugh.
According to the DRK, the project launched by Lidl in 2008 to enable donations via a button on the deposit machine could also have the same name “Small livestock also make messes” carry. While individual donors only waive small deposit amounts, there have been around 6,600 machines in this way over the past 15 years more than 29 million euros gathered for the tables.
Two much-needed refrigerators
As a result, the Red Cross in Wolfenbüttel was now able to provide one professional industrial refrigerator acquire. “This is real furniture, two meters high and 1.5 meters wide,” enthused Juliane Liersch. Such a device has been missing from the Tafel edition for a long time. In addition, further equipment and something were added smaller refrigerator purchased for distribution in Schladen.
