The war between Israel and Hamas completes one week this Saturday (14). The number of deaths since October 7th has passed 3,000 and continues to rise.

The confrontation enters a new phase, with the beginning of land incursions by the Israeli Army. Offensives, until then, were carried out only by launching missiles.

This Friday (13), the Israeli Army ordered the civilian population in the north of the Gaza Strip to go south. Israel even released information leaflets in Arabic to encourage people to leave their homes. This guidance was interpreted as a sign that ground operations would begin. The deadline for withdrawal ended at midnight this Friday (13th), at 6pm (Brasília time).

Israel’s guidance was countered by Hamas terrorists, who asked Palestinians to stay at home. The terrorists were accused of using the civilian population as a shield.

One of the issues that resonated in recent days was the execution of 40 babies by terrorists; some of the children were beheaded. US President Joe Biden and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said they had seen photos of the crimes committed.

A global fear is that the war will spread to other countries in the region and gain greater proportions. In Lebanon, Hezbollah terrorists said they were “fully prepared” for confrontation after Israel struck targets in the country.

During the week, two planes managed to rescue Brazilians who were in Israel. To date, 425 Brazilian citizens have been repatriated through a joint action between Itamaraty and the Ministry of Defense.

Other aircraft, including the presidential one, were mobilized to continue the rescue work and are expected to return in the coming days.

The first week was also marked by the confirmation of the death of three Brazilians who were at the rave invaded by Hamas terrorists. The first victim identified was Ranani Nidejelski Glazer, aged 23; the second was Bruna Valeanu, 24; and the third, Karla Stelzer Mendes, 42.

The Israeli government confirmed that there are Brazilians held hostage by Hamas. These people would be used in a prisoner exchange situation with Israel.
