The Louvre museum in Paris, the largest in the world, closed at noon this Saturday exceptionally “for security reasons”, in a context of a high alert level in France after an Islamist attack in the north of the country.

France decided on Friday night to raise the alert level to “emergency attack”, the highest, which allows exceptional mobilization of media, after a young radical murdered a teacher in an educational center in Arras, in the north of the country. .

This act was described as “Islamist terrorism” by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

For this reason, the Elysée announced on Saturday the deployment of 7,000 soldiers throughout the territory.

These soldiers “will be deployed until Monday night and until further notice,” the Elysée specified, in a context marked by fears that the conflict between Hamas and Israel will affect France.

The Louvre indicated that tickets will be returned to people who have reserved their visit to the museum.
