The leaders of the PP in the cities of Ferrol, A Corua, Santiago, Pontevedra and Vigo jointly demanded yesterday the start-up of the Avril trains, that will allow the extension of the benefits of high speed beyond the city of Ourense.

In a joint statement sent to the media this Saturday, José Manuel Rey (Ferrol), Miguel Lorenzo (A Corua), Borja Verea (Santiago), Rafa Domnguez (Pontevedra) and Marta Fernández-Tapias (Vigo) staged a common front to censor the delays in the arrival of these trains, for which they blame the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

They also criticized the lack of frequencies and delays in the railway services of the Atlantic axis, despite being, they recalled, the second medium distance line with the most users in all of Spain.

The mayor of Ferrol – the only popular councilor in the seven Galician cities – denounced that his city is totally forgotten in railway infrastructure. Ferrol cannot miss the train, he stated, before stating that the line between Ferrol and A Corua He has not had a single euro of investment in the last four years.

Transport still does not know how the Avril trains will be distributed and assures that the delay is not due to safety problems

The popular spokesperson in the Herculean city, Miguel Lorenzo, highlighted that this line takes more than an hour and a quarter despite having an extension of 74 kilometers, while denouncing that the medium distance line between A Corua and Vigo accumulates daily complaints from users about the low quality of service, delays, breakdowns and shortage of frequencies.

In Santiago, the popular spokesperson and autonomous deputy, Borja Verea, stated that the city is triple affected by the chaos in the railway service due to its character as a capital, logistics center and university city, in addition to its tourist flows.

For his part, the leader of the PP in Pontevedra, Rafa Domnguez, regretted that the Pontevedra capital is not enjoying or taking advantage of 100% of the high speed because the Avril trains are taking an unbearable delay.

The popular spokesperson in Vigo, Marta Fernndez-Tapias, urged the Vigo councilor, Abel Caballero, to demand that Pedro Sánchez put the new high-speed trains into operation.
