From start to finish, the victim’s family remained dignified. Never a “call to arms”, never a “call to tears”, as one of his lawyers Pierre Deval summed up. However, there was enough to lose one’s mind. Ousmane, a young 22-year-old with no history, was killed by a gunshot to the head one night in July 2019 in Paris (19th century). A murder against a backdrop of drug trafficking.

Except that the young man was not involved in business. It was either a misunderstanding or a bloody attack by the shooter. The other injustice is that the latter, a Serb who took refuge in his country immediately after the events, will probably never be extradited to France.

This Friday, someone was indeed convicted on appeal in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) for this death. Djordje, a 25-year-old Franco-Serb, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was there at the time of the tragedy. He was even grabbing the victim when his accomplice came from behind before firing. At first instance, accused of murder, he received 19 years in prison for murder. The jurors in Paris had estimated that even if he had not fired the shot, he should be considered a murderer as a co-perpetrator. On appeal, he therefore gets away with four years less. “The court this time accepted complicity,” underlines his lawyer Kheira Flissi-Gherabli, who had pleaded for acquittal with his colleague Hugues Vigier. The sentence remains heavy but there is no longer a security period. » This Thursday, the general counsel requested 19 years of imprisonment for complicity.

“The Assize Court rightly confirmed the indisputable guilt of the accused,” say Pierre Deval and Martin Desrues, the lawyers who represent Ousmane Cissé’s relatives. The heaviest sentence remains the one that afflicts, forever, the victim’s family.

A “huge carrot” at the origin of the drama

In July 2019, Djordje, who grew up in Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), is in a very delicate situation. This former footballer, who narrowly missed out on a professional career after a failure at Paris Football Club, slowly drifted into cocaine trafficking. The year of the tragedy, he invested to buy product from one of his “partners”. Described as “naive” during his personality test, he eventually realizes that he was the victim of a “carrot”. In short, he was cheated. “He trusted me,” he summed up this Thursday morning about “Pépito”, another trafficker. The reputation of the young Franco-Serbian is at stake. He must get his money back. “I tried to contact him but he didn’t answer.”

He decides to mount an expedition to kidnap Pépito in order to “put pressure” on him. “What does that mean to put pressure on? », asks him to specify the president of the assizes. “One or two slaps to get my money back,” assures the accused. To help him, he can count on his father, who has nothing to do with the business, and above all on two compatriots who came from Serbia, three days before the events.

The night of the tragedy, two vehicles leave the family home to kidnap Pépito. In his screen-printed professional van, Djordje rides with one of the two Serbs. They get spotted. And they come across a Clio in which there is the man who, according to the general counsel, is undoubtedly Pépito’s “bodyguard”.

“No one was supposed to die that night”

At his side, Ousmane. He just wants to go home. After a first skirmish, everyone ends up finding themselves in the street. The Serb hits the bodyguard with his rifle, who runs away. Meanwhile, the victim and the accused argue. Until the Serb shot Ousmane in the head, who collapsed. The shooter and Djordje get back into the van. And they fled to Serbia, like the father and the fourth compatriot. The father will visit at the end of August. He will be sentenced to 12 years in prison for complicity. Djordje will also make himself available to French justice a few days later.

“I had no reason to get into trouble with these two people,” the accused repeated during his trial. I understand the family’s pain but I’m not the shooter.” “It is you who are at the origin of this,” pleaded Hugues Vigier, questioning his client. And now you’re alone in the box. » For his advice, Djordje helped but was completely unaware that his accomplice was going to use his firearm. “No one should have died that evening,” Kheira Flissi-Gherabli insisted.
