Lukas Pertl cycled and ran behind after a weak swim. Philip Pertl had to give up.
The Salzburg triathletes Lukas and Philip Pertl leave Chengdu, China, without any sense of success. While Philip was unable to complete the race, Lukas finished 35th – an unsatisfactory result in the World Cup competition over the Olympic distance. The goal of top 20 was already out of reach after the swim.
Swimming failed
“After the short-term arrival, I lacked the energy to swim,” says Lukas Pertl, who had to catch up on the bike and did so to some extent. Thanks to good work in a small chasing group, he approached the leading group. The Pongauer also improved on the running route. But the train to the front had long since left. The Pertl brothers will continue next weekend in Tongyeong, South Korea. Lukas Pertl says: “We now have to regenerate effectively.”
