The Secretary of the Ministry of Defense has said that the grenade found in all the sacred churches did not pose a threat to national security.

Commenting to the media in Kandy today, Kamal Gunaratne said that an inquiry into the incident would take time.

He said churches and other places of worship would be given due protection and those involved in such crimes would be arrested.

Although the details of the investigation have not been released to the public, Kamal Gunaratne said the investigation was progressing satisfactorily.

Meanwhile, the defense secretary said that Malcolm Ranjith could be criticized by the Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal, if he was dissatisfied with the completion of the full investigation into the Easter Sunday attacks.
