The VigilanS device, which maintains contact after hospitalization, has proven its effectiveness.

Every year in France, 150,000 to 200,000 people attempt suicide, a significant proportion of whom will repeat suicide. “We know that 40% of people for whom this is the first attempt will repeat their gesture in their lives, more than half of them within six months”, specifies Professor Guillaume Vaiva, psychiatrist at Lille University Hospital. He is at the origin of VigilanS, a system which maintains contact with people who have been hospitalized for a suicide attempt. The goal: to avoid another act by maintaining a personalized link with the person in pain without invading their existence. And it’s effective!
