Chennai: As the conflict between Israel and Palestine escalates, the Indian government’s rescue initiative, known as ‘Operation Ajay,’ continues to bring stranded Indians back home. Yesterday, Tamil Nadu welcomed another 49 individuals who were successfully rescued from Israel. Health Minister M. Subramanian personally received them at the Chennai airport.

Under ‘Operation Ajay,’ Indians are being repatriated through special flights to Delhi, from where they are further sent to their respective states. In the initial phase, 21 people arrived in Tamil Nadu aboard the first flight, followed by 28 individuals on the second flight. Furthermore, 49 Tamils reached Delhi via the third and fourth flights, eventually making their way to Tamil Nadu yesterday morning.

Out of the total, 32 individuals arrived in Chennai, where Health Minister M. Subramanian welcomed them at the airport. The Tamil Nadu government had arranged vehicles to transport the returnees to their hometowns, including Chennai, Salem, Ulundurpet, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Pudukottai.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Minister M. Subramanian informed that a total of 128 people have expressed their desire to return to Tamil Nadu from Israel and registered for repatriation. Out of those, 110 have already arrived safely, with only 18 more registered individuals yet to be brought back. The minister also anticipated additional registrations, vowing to ensure the safe return of every Tamil Nadu resident.

Appreciating the efficient efforts of the Tamil Nadu Neighboring Tamil Welfare Department, Minister M. Subramanian highlighted the development of a dedicated app to connect Tamils worldwide. This app will serve as a channel for quick communication and assistance in case of any emergency or challenges faced by Tamils living abroad.

The ‘Operation Ajay’ initiative has been widely praised for its swift and effective execution, ensuring the safe return of Indians amidst the ongoing crisis in Israel. The Tamil Nadu government continues to prioritize the well-being and seamless reinstatement of Tamil Nadu residents affected by the conflict.
