SIC records more than two thousand computer crimes in ten months

News from Angola – The Criminal Investigation Service “SIC” registered, from January to October this year, a total of two thousand, seven hundred and eighty-nine cases of computer crimes.

According to the Spokesperson for the SIC’s Computer Crime Combating Directorate, António Ndakupapo, who spoke on the sidelines of the closing of the Cyber ​​Secur Summit 2023.

According to the expert, from these numbers, around forty-seven cases have been concluded and have already been forwarded to the public prosecutor’s office, which resulted in ninety-seven arrests.

António Ndakupapo, on the other hand, made it known that the most critical cases include computer fraud, attribution of false identity, crimes against honor and defamation, damage to computer data and illegitimate interception in IT systems.

The event, which took place from the 11th to the 12th of this year, was attended by 25 speakers from Angola, Brazil, Portugal, the United States, Jordan, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia.

With the aim of promoting the best practices in Information Security and Cybersecurity and ensuring the resilience of organizations and sharing knowledge about digital forensics, cybersecurity, as well as computer crimes in light of the new Angolan penal code.
