Coach Shanahan refused to place sole blame on Moody, acknowledging that numerous factors contributed to the team’s loss.
“It’s always tough to miss that last kick, but that happens in football,” Shanahan noted. “They played better than us today. That was the last play, but there was a lot more today than just that.”
The missed opportunity was a bitter pill to swallow for the 49ers, as a successful kick would have turned defeat into victory. Nonetheless, the team will continue to rally behind their young kicker and work on building his confidence as he grows in the NFL.
