Saudi Covid Report: 5,281 more Kovids in Saudi Arabia, 2,996 cured

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has recorded 5,281 new cases of Kovid and 2,996 cures. This brings the total number of Kovid cases reported so far to 6,09,953 and the number of cases to 5,61,542. Two new deaths have been confirmed to be due to Kovid.

This brings the total death toll to 8,905. Currently, 39,506 people are being treated for Kovid. Of these, 310 are in critical condition. They are in the intensive care unit of various hospitals across the country. The condition of the rest is satisfactory. The country’s covid release rate is 92.06 percent and the death rate is 1.45 percent. There were 1,524 new cases in Riyadh, 914 in Jeddah, 430 in Makkah, 216 in Hufuf, 186 in Madinah, 161 in Dammam, 122 in Taif and 120 in Khulais. So far 5,36,88,317 doses of Kovid vaccine have been distributed in Saudi Arabia. Of these, 2,51,84,274 were the first dose, 2,34,41,269 the second dose and 50,62,774 the booster dose.

A large cache of narcotics was seized while trying to smuggle it into Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: Two attempts to smuggle drugs into Saudi Arabia were foiled on Friday, Saudi Customs said. In two separate incidents, 83 lakh illicit drugs were smuggled into the country through the Jeddah Islamic Port. They were delivered in two containers.

The Saudi Zakat Tax and Customs Authority said there were 30,54,000 pills in the box containing the onions. There were 52,81,250 pills hidden in silicone balls. Customs officials have arrested three people in connection with drug trafficking. The case was referred to the court for further action.
