Chennai BJP MLA Slams Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka for Ignoring Tamil Nadu’s Congress Leaders

by time news

Chennai, Coimbatore South BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan expressed her disagreement with the women’s rights conference organized by the DMK in Chennai. Srinivasan criticized former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka for praising Periyar EV Ra, Anna, and Karunanidhi, without acknowledging the contributions of other prominent leaders such as Rajaji, Omantur Ramaswamy Redyar, Kamaraj, R. Venkataraman, C. Subramaniam, Kakkan, and Ilayaperumal, who were part of the Congress party.

Srinivasan highlighted the importance of these leaders in the development and social and economic changes of Tamil Nadu, questioning why Sonia and Priyanka ignored their contributions. She emphasized that Tamil is the oldest language with a rich literary tradition and mentioned the significance of Thirukkural and the revolutionary poet Mahakavi Bharati in advocating for women’s rights.

According to Srinivasan, Sonia and Priyanka’s focus solely on DMK leaders during their speeches at the conference highlighted the ideological shift in the Congress party. She claimed that the present Congress has aligned itself with the divisive ideology of the DMK, leading to its rejection by the people in the last two Lok Sabha elections.

Srinivasan predicted that the Congress will face further rejection in the upcoming elections due to its divergence from the nationalistic path and adoption of the DMK’s divisive policies.

The statements made by the BJP MLA have sparked debates among political circles, with some supporting her views and others criticizing her for politicizing the women’s rights conference. The focus has now shifted to the upcoming elections and the impact this controversy may have on the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.
