Hyderabad: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday alleged that the corruption of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s family is being discussed in Delhi also. He criticized KCR for abuse of power and increasing corruption in Telangana.
“The issue of corruption in your family is not limited to Telangana only but it has reached Delhi. I want to tell Mr KCR that there is no smoke without fire,” he reportedly told KCR’s daughter K. Making a clear reference to the Delhi Liquor Policy issue related to the poem.
Rajnath Singh was addressing an election rally at Jammikunta in Huzurabad constituency, which was represented by BJP MLA and former minister Eatala Rajender. The BJP leader remarked that KCR’s aim is family first while the people of Telangana want to see the state first.
“There is nothing wrong in having a family but handing over the entire state to the family is not acceptable to the people and the BJP,” he said.
He questioned KCR on his family’s interference in governance. “The people made you the Chief Minister, not your family. I do not want to blame any member of the family. We want to respect everyone, but the government should be run by you, not your family.”
Rajnath Singh also remarked that in the last 10 years, Telangana’s development was not only ‘limited’ but also became ‘private limited’. Terming Gujarat as a development model for the entire country, he alleged that except Hyderabad, there has been no development in Telangana during the last 10 years.
He told KCR, “The people of Telangana want to know that if Gujarat and other states can develop, then why Telangana did not develop under your rule.”
Accusing BRS and MIM of doing politics based on religion and caste, Singh said that BJP’s politics is based on justice and humanity.
Rajnath Singh also reminded KCR that he did not fight for Telangana alone. “BJP also fought for Telangana. If I have to give credit to anyone, I will give credit to the people of Telangana.”
The Union Minister claimed that Congress was forced to create Telangana state due to public pressure. However, he said that there are many issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh which are yet to be resolved due to the complications created by the Congress party.
He reminded that when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, three states were created but there were no problems and all three states developed rapidly.
He claimed that Telangana has always been close to the heart of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will remain so in future.
He also wanted to know from KCR what happened to his promises of providing a job to every youth, three acres of land to every Dalit family and a grant of Rs 10 lakh.
Saying that there should be no contradiction between the words and actions of a politician, he claimed that the BJP delivers what it promises. He mentioned the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370.
Criticizing the BRS government over the leak of question papers of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) recruitment examinations, he demanded that KCR and his government apologize to the people.
Rajnath Singh appealed to the people to give BJP a chance. “You have given two chances to BRS. BJP wants overall development of Telangana. Give it a chance and see how it develops Telangana,” he said.
Elections for the 119-member Telangana Assembly are to be held on November 30.
