The Master Chief takes on hordes of enemies again. The latest “Halo Infinite” brings a few innovations and an interesting campaign. Especially veteran fans of the series should get their money’s worth. A highlight is the new multiplayer mode.
So It’s not easy as a fresh “Halo” title. Numerous old fans need to be made happy, new ones won and then there is the tough multiplayer competition. All in all not that easy, but “Halo Infinite” does well.
Let’s not get bogged down in too many story details. Roughly speaking: The Master Chief is back and fights against several opponents on a huge ring. It is once again bad for mankind and everything is quite hopeless. So the Master Chief loads and lets go.
Fans will quickly find their way into the game, newcomers would first have to familiarize themselves with the extensive vocabulary of the series. There is no introduction to the not exactly simple “Halo” history.
A voyage of discovery for Halo fans
Depending on how you play, the single-player campaign lasts around 20 hours. In addition to the main story, all sorts of side quests await players who like to slow down the game a bit.
If you like, you can go on a journey of discovery in the now partially open world – long-serving “Halo” fans should get their money’s worth here. Huge alien buildings, trees, mountains, small story snippets and the always somewhat large ring world on the horizon are waiting.
In the course of the game you harvest the resource bravery, which can be used to unlock new weapons and vehicles. Yes, of course there are also vehicles and they are fun.
The clever enemy AI and the new grappling hook, which can be used to overcome obstacles or hijack vehicles, are also fun. The soundtrack also sounds good to the ears.

The multiplayer mode has been unlocked for a while and has garnered a lot of praise from the fan community. Compared to other multiplayer shooters, you start with modest gear and have to work your way up.
Roughly speaking, you have two modes to choose from: rather old-fashioned tactical challenges in a smaller space with fewer players. Or big maps with up to 24 players, vehicle use and a lot of focus on cooperation.
“Halo Infinite” is available for PC and Xbox for around 70 euros. At the beginning of 2022 there should also be a co-op mode for the single-player campaign.
