Binh Phuoc: People hand over rare land pythons to Forest Rangers | Environment

On the afternoon of October 16, Forest Ranger Department of Loc Ninh district, province Binh Phuoc In coordination with the People’s Committee of Loc An commune and the Center for Propaganda, Tourism and Conservation Rescue of Bu Gia Map National Park, they received an individual ground python handed over by the people.

The male python, weighing 15kg, nearly 4m long, was handed over by Mr. Pham Van Nhon (residing in hamlet 4, Loc An commune, Loc Ninh district). This is a forest animal in the endangered, precious and rare category IIB.

Previously, while clearing fields and burning dry bushes along the edge of the stream, Mr. Nhon’s family discovered an individual python lying at the base of a tree, so they kept it and raised it at home. Encouraged by local Forest Ranger officers, Mr. Nhon agreed hand over the individual land python for authorities to release into the natural environment.

According to the Loc Ninh District Forest Ranger Department, from the beginning of 2023 until now, the unit has coordinated and received 11 individuals of wild forest animals belonging to groups IB and IIB, including two individuals of Javan pangolin, two individuals of small-clawed otter, one long-tailed macaque, one individual ground python and four pig-tailed macaques.

These are the animals included in the category endangered forest animalsprecious and rare according to Decree No. 84 of the Government dated September 22, 2021./.
